To most detailing is just washing and waxing. Detailing has different meanings depending on whom you ask, to me detailing means bringing the vehicle back to "like new" conditions which requires a thorough cleaning of the interior and exterior beyond the typical washing and waxing. I believe to thoroughly clean the exterior you will need to clay bar and polish out all the contamination then proceed to seal the new condition.
Please refer to my services page for more information.
If using a carnauba wax, it will need to be re-waxed monthly. If using a polymer wax, it will usually last 2-3 months. If I have clay bared and sealed the paint, it will last 4-6 months.
The list includes Meguiars, Optimum, Menzerna, Chemical Guys, 3M, Rain-X, Lake Country, Mothers, Poorboys, Porter Cable, Makita.
Yes, well let me explain. Absolutely, you can maintain the showroom perfect look of your car. Can you correct damaged paint? Only if you have the tools, time, and skills to do so. I will show you how to properly maintain your vehicle to ensure the paint correction I have performed on your vehicle will not go to waste.
Even before I got my license I would be asked to wash and wax my father's car, also an enthusiast. I started to gain a true respect, then a passion for cars. When I finally got my license and my own car, I found a real relaxation to detailing cars. I have gained such a passion for cars I began racing and auto crossing them. After a long day on the track the next two days would turn into a long detail on the car I just used. This allowed to gain a true appreciation for a truly hard to detail vehicle. Allowing me to take one that should almost be discarded and turned into a thing of beauty truly makes me happy. I treat your car as if it were my own, that's how much I truly love for cars. My love for cars ensures that I only use the absolute best products and proper procedures on their own car.
Your home is an investment, if it springs a leak you wouldn't just forget about it. Your car is also an investment. Keeping it truly clean and beautiful will lead to a longer more worthwhile investment. If you maintain your vehicle not only will you be happier with it, but you will receive a higher resale value for it. Even if you're selling your vehicle, I can help you get the top dollar for your car or truck. You wouldn't forget to change the oil in car, so don't forget to maintain the exterior. We can put together any package that works for you, the customer.
So we have spent numerous hours correcting the paint on your vehicle. You want to keep it looking this way. Not only because, it looks nice, but also to save you money in the long term. You're obviously someone who cares about their car so keep maintaining it. You wouldn't not change the oil, so don't torture the paint, the skin of your vehicle. You will have a better resale value and a happier car if you follow these few steps.
If you're local to me, we can setup regular hand washes. I will wash the car by hand while you wait. Depending how dirty it is it could be done as quickly as 10 minutes. I use a foam gun and two buckets. WHY? The foam is to get a layer of lubricant, or soap on the car, as you move the sponge over a car you can induce scratches the soap helps prevent this. The 2 buckets are to have one for washing and one to rinse my sponge. Rinse bucket then I go back to the wash bucket and the sponge is clean. I soap then rinse to get the sponge clean to allow dirt to fall into this bucket preventing scratches. This is an important procedure.
Please do NOT go to automatic car washes. They are known as "Swirl-O-Matics." Although you may have gotten the grime off of your car you are inducing swirls into the paint. I have heard this many times before also. "It's a hand wash that they do, so it's ok." Yes, there are places that will do a hand wash for you. Are they washing their sponges after each car, NO! Do they truly care about the condition of your paint? Chances are they are not only using your dirt to scratch your paint but everyone else's dirt to scratch it. Dirt likes to stay in sponges and mitts, unless rinsed out throughly the debris left will scratch your paint.
Who is going to care for you paint better than you or myself? Worst case, wash it yourself. It will take you ten minutes or so and help you maintain that showroom shine that we have provided. You don't need two buckets. Get any basic car wash, I prefer Meguier's Gold class, it's readily available and a nice soap. Begin by wetting the entire car, top down. Foam, foam, foam, it's your friend. The more foam you can get on the car the safer you are, it "holds" dirt preventing scratching. Work panel by panel and after each panel rinse your sponge or mitt with your hose. This will act just like your second bucket to remove contaminants from your sponge. Rinse from the top down in a left to right motion, allowing the water to sheet off of the car. The main purpose of allowing the water to sheet is to allow the water to pull the water higher on the vehicle off of the vehicle. Finally dry, if you have a blower of some sort, blow cracks, seams, and trim, then blot dry, do your best not to drag your drying towel over the paint as this can help scratch the paint.
In a worst case scenario hose it off with fresh water and go drive. This will leave water spots but a better solution than going to any automated wash. If you don't have access to a hose I can suggest a wonderful No Rinse car wash. If you don't have a hose this is an excellent option.
